Morningside Books

From 1970 until 2003 Morningside published more than 150 books. About two-thirds of them were reprints of classic Civil War books, most of which were hard to find when Morningside first reprinted them. The remainder are original books the company has published. The reason it says from 1970 until 2003 is because no new books will be printed under the Morningside name. Morningside was founded and run by Robert J. Younger, a printer and book collector with a great interest in and great knowledge of the Civil War. All of these books were printed while he ran Morningside. Any new books printed by this company will carry the Gatehouse Press name. That way you'll always know that if a book says Morningside on it, it was published on Bob Younger's watch.

Of the more than 150 titles printed by Morningside, 57 are currently still available. Our plans are to bring back many of the Morningside titles that have gone out of print. We will do this as time, money, and demand allow. If there's a particular Morningside book that's out of print and you'd like to have it come back, let us know. Click here for a complete list of all Morningside books that have been published.
